Flying is always great. Personally, I am surprised by the fact that there are so few good games where you have wings. One day, one of the users asked the developers of Smalland: Survive the Wilds why they were allowed to soar, but not allowed to fly. To this, the developers responded that if they introduce full-fledged flights, then what will happen next? Nothing is more disappointing in modern game development than this kind of logic…
One way or another, this small selection contains for you the best games where your character can fly and soar on his own, having wings, or turning into some kind of flying creatures. I’ve also included a few games that have mods that add flightable wings.
#13: Minecraft + Wings Mod
Developer: Mojang Studios
Genres: Survival, Open World, Sandbox
System Requirements: Low
Rating: 8 / 10
I haven’t played Minecraft for many years… But if you asked me what my favorite mod is, I would say the Wings mod. The essence of this mod is very simple: the game gives you the opportunity to craft wings, equip them in a special slot and, in fact, fly! Flights intensively consume hunger points, so in general the mod cannot be called “imbalanced” – without a whole inventory of food you won’t fly far! The main disadvantage of this mod is that the developer abandoned it, and therefore it (the mod) is only available for versions 1.12.2 and 1.16.5.

Anyone who doesn’t like Skyrim simply hasn’t played it yet. Thanks to the Animated Wings Ultimate Mod, the player can use wings in the game. So if you dreamed of flying around Tamriel and, like the angel of death, exterminating unsuspecting giants, then with this mod you will have such an opportunity. The mod is available in several languages, including English, and brings dozens of different wings to the game. However, to install it correctly, you will have to tinker…

#3: Aion (2008)
Developer: NCSoft
Genres: MMORPG, Fantasy, Free-To-Play
System Requirements: Low
Rating: 8 / 10
Aion is a fairly old MMORPG from the creators of the once cult Lineage II, which is literally tied to flying. Each player has wings (like an angel), which allow him to freely soar through the open world, and even participate in air battles. Aion MMO, launched in 2008, unfolds in the fractured realm of Atreia, inhabited by two races – the prosperous Elyos basking in the light and the desolate Asmodians entrenched in perpetual darkness. Players align with one faction, engaging in relentless battles to shape Atreia’s fate. Among the positive aspects, we can highlight good graphics and plot, dynamic PVP. Of the minuses – low online on official servers, boring late game content.

#2: Genshin Impact (2020)
Developer: miHoYo
Genres: RPG, Action, Open World
System Requirements: Middle
Rating: 7 / 10
Soaring through the skies isn’t the primary focus of Genshin Impact, yet it adds a pleasant variety to the gameplay. Set in the fantastical world of Teyvat, players navigate an anime-style open world as one of four interchangeable characters in a party. Swift character-switching during combat allows for dynamic skill and attack combinations. The core combat involves using Elemental Skills with cooldowns and Elemental Bursts with energy costs, requiring strategic manipulation of character abilities. Multiplayer co-op enables up to four players to explore and tackle challenges together.
Compared to its competitors, the game stands out with its bright anime-style graphics and unusual mechanics of playing with several characters at once. Among the shortcomings are the presence of gacha mechanics and somewhat boring repetitive gameplay.
