- Best games where you can fight against vampires
It seems that the vampire theme in video games will never become obsolete. Every year, new games about vampires emerge. The essence of such games often boils down to the player acquiring vampire powers and hunting people (preferably the bad ones), feeding on their blood. In this brief compilation, I have gathered the best games, in my opinion, where you can play as a vampire or fight against vampires as a hunter.
I have personally played many of the listed games. The main criteria for selecting games for this list were their popularity and relevance. However, you may occasionally come across exceptional games that, while not the most popular, are quite interesting for their niche audience.
Best games where you can play as a Vampire
The following is a list of games where you can play as a vampire. In such games, you often gain vampire powers, and you need to hunt humans to feed on their blood. In some of the listed games, you’ll be fighting not only humans but also forces of darkness, and in some, you’ll even be building bases and entire cities. After all, who said vampires are poor builders?
V Rising stands as one of the most beloved and arguably the finest vampire-themed games. Players awaken as weakened vampires, tasked with the vital objective of hunting for blood to regain strength. Survival hinges on strategic adaptation to the scorching sun, requiring players to stick to shadows during the day while freely roaming and preying on victims at night. The game unfolds in a vast open-world, where players explore diverse environments such as lush forests, open countryside, and dark caverns.
The emphasis on resource gathering and the discovery of ancient techniques is pivotal for acquiring dark powers and building personalized castles. This serves as a base for growing an army of darkness, protecting treasure hoards, and engaging in cooperative or competitive interactions with other vampires. The game’s mechanics employ precise WASD controls and cursor-based aiming for skill shots and projectile dodging, offering players the opportunity to tailor their vampires with deadly weapons and unholy abilities earned through encounters with powerful foes.
Renfield: Bring Your Own Blood
This charming and humorous vampire game received an unexpectedly warm welcome on Steam, garnering several hundred positive reviews in its initial months. Players find themselves immersed in the role of Dracula’s sole employee, undertaking a demanding yet rewarding task – executing the immortal’s commands for a high-fiber diet of insects, mystic powers, and immortality. Renfield: Bring Your Own Blood is a pixelated, single-player adventure with one-touch gameplay and room-based action, offering a roguelite experience.
In this bug-powered rampage, players navigate unique stages, battling horrifying and hilarious horrors inspired by Universal Pictures’ Dracula movie. The pixelated version of New Orleans serves as the backdrop, featuring beautiful environmental objects, collectibles, and branching paths. The game emphasizes the player’s choices, impacting career advancement or eternal unemployment. As the best and only employee of Dracula, one must level up, equipping an array of upgradable weapons and pest-powered skills. The mix of gore and humor, along with the balance between ups and downs, adds a distinct charm to the frenetic, visually stylish world of Renfield: Bring Your Own Blood.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Ultimate Edition

As one of the vampire games for PC, this narrative includes two downloadable content extensions, Reverie and Resurrection, which provide an epic conclusion to this tale of death, betrayal, and redemption.
Simply designed yet incredibly engaging, Vampire Survivors is a time survival game with roguelite elements. Set in a desolate landscape, players must confront the emptiness of hell, populated by relentless devils, with no room for escape. The primary objective is stark – survive until the inevitable end. Each run entails the collection of gold, a valuable currency used to secure upgrades for subsequent survivors. This supernatural indie phenomenon introduces players to a bullet hell experience, now with the added option of local co-op supporting up to four players.
The game’s minimalistic gameplay emphasizes strategic choices, encouraging players to carefully gather gems and items that persist throughout the challenging journey. Weapon selection is crucial, with a recommendation to acquire two or three offensive weapons initially, focusing on leveling them one at a time. Armor and Luck serve as effective starting power-ups, providing an edge in the relentless survival quest.
In this lesser-known yet intriguing multiplayer vampire-themed game, players immerse themselves in fast-paced battles, choosing between two factions: Slayers or Vampires. As a Slayer, one can strategically employ telekinetic powers to repel encroaching vampires or invoke protective prayers against the supernatural. Vampires, on the other hand, leverage Blood Vision for tracking Slayers, invisibility for versatile maneuvers, and impressive leaps for tactical advantage. Each character, whether a quick-witted Slayer or a nocturnal Vampire, boasts a distinct set of weapons and abilities, encouraging players to master the diverse array of fearless characters available.
Vampyr is a distinctive addition to vampire games for PC, taking place in London, 1918. Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong
Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong, developed in the vein of a narrative RPG, allows players to delve into a world where every choice determines the fate of the three main characters and the Boston Camarilla. The game premise poses a tantalizing question: what if vampires were real, living hidden among us in complex societies, hatching conspiracies for thousands of years? Players assume the roles of these alluring monsters in a sophisticated world, blurring the lines between reality and the supernatural.
Set in a heart-pounding thriller narrative, players navigate plots, murders, and power struggles to protect their sect in an investigation that plunges Boston into chaos. Players can control three distinct vampires, each possessing unique vampiric abilities and disciplines that can be upgraded individually. It’s not just about assembling your strongest heroes, but also about leveraging their unique skills, discovering powerful synergies, and planning a strategy that can devastate foes. As players progress, their gothic mansion base expands, unlocking more rooms and enabling the recruitment of additional Heroes of darkness.
In CODE VEIN, vampires may bear a different moniker, but their essence remains the same, thereby offering a unique addition to vampire games for PC. Players team up with an AI partner or another player for a story-driven, connected dungeon experience where coordinated strategies are key to surviving attacks and overcoming formidable foes. The challenges in CODE VEIN serve as a catalyst for character growth, prompting players to acquire new gear and level up to confront the Lost.
Character customization is central to gameplay, with a selection of weapons, Blood Code enhancements, and “Gifts” that boost strength, debilitate enemies, and unlock new abilities. Shifting character class, mix and matching skills, or choosing different NPC partners at will, introduces an adaptable layer to gameplay, reflecting the game’s key concept: in the face of certain death, we rise.
Scarlet Tower may not be the most popular, but it’s a compelling game about vampires. The gameplay revolves around a day and night cycle, during which players hunt bizarre monsters in daylight and become the hunted once night falls. This necessitates gathering relics and recruiting familiars from across the globe to bolster the player’s strength. The presence of unique characters, each with customizable passives, introduces a degree of customization to gameplay. Features like procedural map generation and support for widescreen resolution further enrich the gaming experience, ensuring an element of unpredictability and adaptability to different playing environments.
BloodRayne: Terminal Cut
BloodRayne: Terminal Cut is a reissue of an older game, featuring a red-haired vampiress protagonist. As a hybrid of human and vampire, Rayne serves the Brimstone Society, a clandestine organization committed to annihilating supernatural threats. The narrative unfolds across two missions separated by five years, revealing their connection through a man determined to harness occult relics for the Third Reich’s domination. Rayne, a dhampir, navigates her way through horrific creatures and hordes of soldiers, dispatching every Nazi officer hindering her path to her ultimate target. Noteworthy enhancements in the Terminal Cut edition include support for modern gamepads, higher display resolutions, up to 4x anti-aliasing, and better textures, reflections, water, fog, and shadows. This version continues the legacy of games about vampires with its uniquely gruesome third-person shooter gameplay.
BloodRayne 2: Terminal Cut
BloodRayne 2: Terminal Cut is a reissue of an older, yet quite popular game of its time. It revolves around BloodRayne, a dhampir, the offspring of an unnatural union between a vampire and a human, who embarks on a personal quest to hunt her siblings. They are determined to continue their father’s legacy, aiming for vampire supremacy with humans reduced to mere cattle.
The game introduces new acrobatic movements, rail sliding, faster blade and gun combat, and fatal finishing moves, building on dhampir powers such as time control and an extensive combo system. Terminal Cut edition’s enhancements, prepared by the original development team, include support for higher display resolutions, upscaled cinematic videos, modern gamepad support, improved rendering, and more detailed visual effects. The refined gameplay and improved mechanics solidify BloodRayne 2: Terminal Cut’s place among the best PC vampire games.
Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire
Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire presents a unique twist on games about vampires. Set in Transylvania, this action-farming-roguelite follows the journey of Dracula’s rebellious son, Voltaire, who opts for a plant-based diet over traditional vampiric feeding. The young vampire cultivates crops during the day using magical seeds to fuel his new lifestyle. Yet, when night falls, he must protect his harvest from Dracula’s minions, sent to disrupt his dietary plans. Relying on his vampiric dark powers, Voltaire takes on various bosses dispatched by Dracula. He undertakes bounties for his uncles, Frank and Stein, and battles mythical creatures of Transylvania to accrue rewards. Despite the challenges, the hope of a new, greener rule and the possibility of evolving into higher vampiric forms through his diet, encourage Voltaire to persevere.
Priest Simulator plunges players into a mockumentary action experience set in modern Poland, with an unconventional twist to the typical vampire games. The protagonist is a priest of the vampire persuasion, whose mission is to retrieve his batoon and return to Hell by battling ‘shatanistic’ hordes, gaining strength, refurbishing the church, and accumulating splendor. The player can employ a divine arsenal of eight unique weapons, capable of being dual-wielded, and use black metal to craft upgrades.
Renovation of the dilapidated church forms a significant part of the gameplay, requiring the procurement of restoration blueprints and the use of contemporary technology to improve the faith level and unlock new elements such as confession and sermons. Furthermore, the game includes the task of saving villagers from damnation caused by the prior pastor’s sale of demonic totems, necessitating the performance of exorcisms to resolve the chaos left behind.
Vampire’s Fall: Origins
In this old-school RPG, players are immersed in the world of Vampire’s Fall: Origins. The game introduces a narrative around the peaceful village of Vamp’Ire which, facing the threat of a Witchmaster, musters a militia to defend itself. Players enlist as recruits, fully customizing their characters, and making choices that not only shape their abilities but also impact the unfolding story. Tactical combat enhances the gameplay experience, complemented by an open-world exploration and a unique selection of over 250 weapons and armor pieces. The choice of bloodline, from Nosferatu, Ranjeni, Magistrav, to Equides, further deepens character customization.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
While The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim isn’t about vampires per se, the player has the opportunity to become a vampire and utilize vampire superpowers within one of the storyline arcs. In this fantasy action role-playing game, players can explore Skyrim, a vast open world, from either a first- or third-person perspective. The character, customizable in terms of sex, race, and appearance, possesses three primary attributes: health, magicka, and stamina, which facilitate combat, spell casting, and heavy attacks respectively.
Gaining experience through skill leveling and choosing from the 18 skills spread across combat, magic, and stealth branches helps the player navigate varied combat scenarios. Encounters with non-player characters (NPCs) offer side-quests, companionship in combat, and potential entry into organized factions, each offering its unique quest path. Additionally, the ability to wield weapons, armor, and magic spells effectively, often simultaneously, enhances the player’s combat proficiency.
Best games where you can fight against vampires
I have also included in the selection a few games where you can fight against vampires without being one of them. There turned out to be even fewer such games than full-fledged vampire-themed games. So if you know of any good similar games, don’t hesitate to write about them in the comments.
Despite a large number of negative reviews, the game is decent. In Redfall, players engage with an open-world, single-player and co-op FPS, unraveling a mystery behind a vampire invasion in the isolated town of Redfall, Massachusetts. The game encourages exploration and immersion in its deep story campaign. Players can choose to navigate this vampire-stricken world alone or in teams of up to four, with options to customize character loadouts to suit individual playstyles, be it guns blazing or stealth combat. In the face of a vampire legion and their followers, players choose from a diverse team of heroes, each with unique abilities, requiring creative solutions to overcome challenges. This intriguing blend of familiar and extraordinary environments forms the backdrop for this rich Arkane experience.
Evil West delves into the harrowing world of the American frontier under siege by a sinister force. As one of the remaining operatives of a clandestine vampire-hunting organization, players are humanity’s last line of defense against this insidious evil. Combining firearms, a lightning-fueled gauntlet, and gadgets in a dynamic combat system, players face off against horrific creatures either as a solo hunter or in co-op mode. Throughout the narrative-driven campaign, players continually improve their arsenal and hunting tools, unlocking perks that refine their monster-slaying prowess. This personalization of playstyle equips players to effectively confront the supernatural hordes threatening to consume the United States.
The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut
In The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut, players journey into the gothic-noir world of Borgovia, where a tenuous peace exists between monsters and humans, now threatened by rampant mad science. Accompanied by a spectral companion, Lady Katarina, players traverse wild landscapes and scientific dystopias, revealing that the real monsters might not be who they seem. This edition collects three standalone episodes into a cohesive narrative, offering six playable classes and a vast endgame mode teeming with diverse open missions. This versatile gameplay, a complex skill tree specific to each class, and a roster of supernatural enemies establish it as one of the best PC vampire games. Engaging features such as a defensive mini-game, a daily quest system, and multiplayer modes enhance the longevity of this immersive, narrative-driven game.
In this unconventional game, the objective is clear: escape from the mansion of a beautiful yet blood-craving vampire named Velina. Players navigate the protagonist through challenges, starting with a mishap while transporting goods in heavy rain. The narrative unfolds as Velina offers assistance, only to reveal her vampiric nature upon the character’s awakening.
The gameplay centers on exploration within the mansion, where players must find ways to combat vampires, locate a crucial key, and secure their escape. The stakes are high, as getting caught by Vampire Velina results in the loss of vitality and a transformation into a vampire. To counter this, players can strategically deploy items like holy light, pure water, and garlic spray found during exploration. The tension intensifies with the option to advance to hard mode, uncovering Velina’s hidden story and unlocking a new ending cutscene. Additionally, the extra content in “Velina’s Room” allows players to alter Velina’s appearance and arrange furniture for diverse motions, adding a layer of customization to the overall experience.
With this, my small selection of best PC vampire games has come to an end. The post will be periodically updated as new vampire-themed games are released. If you know of additional good vampire games, you can write about them in the comments. By doing this, you will be helping not only the website, but also thousands of its readers.
