30 Best Zombie Games for Android in 2023

Zombie survival is a popular genre of Android games. In this list, I’ve gathered the most popular and interesting zombie games in several subgenres like open world, shooter, strategy, and others. As you understand, I didn’t play most of these games, so I relied on their popularity and ranking in the Google Play Store. Don’t worry if your favorite game wasn’t included in the list. This ranking is based on my personal opinion and doesn’t claim to be absolutely objective. Let’s start.

State of Survival: Zombie War (August, 2019)

Genres: RPG, Strategy, 3D, Tower Defense

State of Survival is an old and highly rated zombie strategy. In this game, you will be building your base and hiring different heroes to fight against zombies using teams of survivalists. There are a few quality levels of champions and their equipment. That’s why State of Survival resembles gacha games like RAID: Shadow Legends.

At the point of writing this post, the number of downloads of State of Survival in the Play Store had reached 50 million. The game has a pretty high rating, and it’s regularly updated. Due to this, it still maintains its popularity. Besides, in State of Survival, you will meet favorite characters from The Walking Dead, and for this reason, the game is definitely worth playing. Zero City (July, 2019)

Genres: RPG, Strategy, 2D

Zero City is one more old 2D zombie survival game. This game has gacha elements and is thus very similar to State of Survival. You will be hiring different champions, improving their skills, building an underground shelter, and fighting against zombies. There is also multiplayer PVP against other players’ teams.

At this point, Zero City had reached over 10 million downloads in the Google Play Store. Due to its high rating and regular updates, the game is still popular and even has an active community on YouTube. The main advantage of the game is its performance, as 2D graphics don’t require powerful devices. However, you can also play Zero City on PC using a free emulator.

Left to Survive (July, 2018)

Left to Survive is an old online zombie shooter for smartphones, tablets, and PCs. This game has its own individual apocalyptic atmosphere but is not too different from the previous ones. Players are building their bases; hiring, leveling, and equipping different characters; and killing zombies in the 3rd and 1st person modes using a wide variety of firearms.

The game has more than 10 million downloads in the Google Play Store, but its rating is on the middle level both in the mobile market and on Steam. In general, players complain about the high cost of donate and the difficulties of grinding. But these problems are relevant to almost any free-to-play modern game. You can play Left to Survive for free on Android or PC. If you don’t like the additional game launcher in Steam, try Left to Survive using a free emulator.

Doomsday: Last Survivors (September, 2021)

If you like State of Survival, you will like this game as well. Doomsday: Last Survivors is a top-down RPG based on tower defense mechanics. The player can move a squad of heroes and build different barricades to prevent zombies from reaching the team. Characters will attack enemies automatically. In between battles against mutants, you will be building the base, hiring new champions, completing missions, and so on.

Doomsday: Last Survivors has been downloaded over 5 million times in the Google Play Store and has a high rating of 4.5 / 5. The game’s community on YouTube is still active, so you can be sure that you won’t be alone. The game is only available for mobile devices, but you can play it on PCs as well by using a free emulator.

Last Day on Earth: Survival (May, 2017)

You have definitely heard about this game, as it was released back in 2017 and has since been downloaded over 100 million times! Someone hates Last Day on Earth; others have played it all these years. The fact is that the game has become so popular that its “clones,” based on the same engine, appear in the Google Play Store almost every month and immediately receive a positive response from the audience.

The gameplay of Last Day on Earth is based on raiding locations, which can be randomly raided by several players at the same time. There, you should gather resources and kill zombies. But if you die, you will lose all the inventory. In between raids, you will be building your modular house, crafting weapons and armor, repairing transport, building a farm, and so on. Actually, it’s something like RUST for mobile devices. But don’t forget that you can also play Last Day on Earth on PC using a free emulator.

Days After offers almost the same mechanics as the other games based on the engine of Last Day on Earth. Each player has his own location where he can build a home. In the game, you will constantly look for resources, craft weapons, raid points of interest, and do other survival stuff. Players can randomly meet each other in the same part of the world, so adrenaline-fueled PVP battles are inevitable, and you will lose all your inventory in the event of dying.

Despite its youth, the game has been downloaded over 1 million times and has an active YouTube community. The rating of the game in the Google Play Store is also high. Based on these facts, I concluded that Days After is worth your attention.

Another popular clone of Last Day on Earth is Prey Day: Zombie Survival. Each player has his own location for building a base, farming, and crafting. Players can raid and destroy random bases of other players, as well as compete in real-time PVP.
