UNDAWN: Guide to Sigils

Bio Sigil System was added to the game with the Stygian Restricted Area. This is another way to upgrade your character, which is available in the Esc → Sigils section. Sigils might significantly increase your stats, so you should choose and upgrade them wisely.

Sigil Video Guide

How Sigils Work

Bio Sigils are divided into 12 sets, and each of them has 2-piece and 4-piece effects. At the same time, you can only equip 5 sigils. This means you can only have one 4-piece set or two 2-piece set effects active simultaneously. The 5th sigil can be taken from any set.

Sigil Sets

Pay attention to the fact that 4-piece effects depend on the quality of the sigils: lower quality – weaker effect.

2-pieces Effect

4-pieces Effect

Conditioned Reflex

Conditioned Reflex

Weakness Damage increases by 12%.

When landing a hit on a target with a firearm, there is a 15% chance to hit their weak spot and inflict bleeding. You deal damage equal to 50.4% Skill Strength + 33.6% level bonus per second, and slow them by 30% for 3s. Cooldown: 10s.

Swift Reload

Swift Reload

Increases main weapon magazine capacity by 8%.

Holstering your main weapon regains your ammo by 10% per second. Rolling or sliding will quickly reload your ammo. Cooldown: 15s.
Also, the first 30% of bullets in the magazine increases damage by 30%. (Only submachine guns, assault rifles, and light machine guns can trigger this.)

Mass Mania

Mass Mania

Increases skill damage by 8%.

When using grenade launcher or explosive skills to deal damage to multiple enemies, each target hit increases damage by 3.2%. Stacks up to 5 times and lasts 15s.

Combat Motivation

Combat Motivation

Increases cooldown reduction by 10%.

After using a Focus skill, teammates within a 30m radius have their damage and damage reduction increased by 7.2% for 20s. Cooldown: 60s.

Armor Slash

Armor Slash

Increases armor by 10%.

When you take damage, you gain an excess shield equal to 8% of your max armor for 15s. Can be triggered up to 5 times withing 20s.

Metabolic Conversion

Metabolic Conversion

Increases damage reduction by 5%.

When you take a single hit that exceeds 25% of your max HP, 40% of that damage is converted into bleeding damage over 5s. Cooldown: 10s. When your HP is full, 30% of your recovered HP is converted into armor, up to a maximum of 30% armor.

Spontaneous Mutation

Spontaneous Mutation

Increases healing effect by 4%.

When healing a target, 16% of the healing is converted into armor. No additional conversion occurs when HP is full. When a player is down, the teammate with the lowest HP recovers 60% skill strength + 25% HP. Cooldown: 60s.

Quantum Recovery

Quantum Recovery

Increases skill strength by 10%.

When healing a target, there is a 20% chance to trigger an additional heal on the target that is 150% of the initial amount. Cooldown: 0.5s.

Extreme Sniper

Extreme Sniper

Increases movement speed by 5%.

Hitting distant enemies with a sniper rifle increases damage by 5% at 30m, and 10% at a maximum distance of 80m. Target hit beyond 30m are slowed by 35% for 3s. Cooldown: 10s.

Ability Steal

Ability Steal

Increases armor damage reduction by 10%.

When landing a hit on a target with a firearm, their max HP and max armor reduces by 8% (ineffective on monsters, but you still gain a buff), and your max HP and max armor increases by 8% for 10s. Cooldown: 20s.

Overequipped

Overequipped

Increases heavy weapon ammo reload speed by 10%.

Hitting an enemy with a firearm gains 1 stack of heavy weapon overload buff with a cooldown of 0.5s, lasting 30s. Upon reaching 15 stacks, it will enter the heavy weapon overload state, strengthening the damage of the next 5 heavy weapon ammo by 15% (this effect does not work on artillerists and heavy guardians).

Frost Impact

Frost Impact

Increases skill strength by 8%.

Hitting an enemy with a firearm marks it with Frost, with a cooldown of 20s. The mark explodes after 5s, dealing frost damage within range (damage equal to 604.8% skill strength + 403.2% level bonus) and reduces speed by 30% for 5s.

Sigil Slots

Sigils for all slots are different.

  • Active – Main Stat: Damage, Secondary Stats: Offensive.
  • Catalyst – Main Stat: Skill Strength, Secondary Stats: Offensive and Defensive.
  • Carbide – Main Stat: Armor, Secondary Stats: Offensive and Defensive.
  • Oxide – Main Stat: Max HP, Secondary Stats: Defensive.
  • Calcify – Main Stat: Max Armor Increase, Secondary Stats: Defensive.

sigils

Catalyst and Carbide sigils are the only sigils that can have both Offensive (e.g., Damage, Critical Hit, etc.) and Defensive (e.g., Armor, Max HP, etc.) secondary stats, so you should strive to get these sigils with as many offensive stats as possible, because the “damage-first” strategy is the most healthy and reliable.

Sigil Iterations

Sigils also have “Iterations” that are specified in their title (e.g., “Swift Reload I” or “Conditioned Reflex II”). At the moment, there are only 2 sigil iterations in Undawn: “I” and “II”. The higher the iteration, the higher stats sigils will have. For example, an active sigil of iteration I has main stat Damage 54, while the same active sigil of iteration II has main stat Damage 67.

Conditioned Reflex II

Important: My tests show that if you equip 2 sigils of iteration I and 2 sigils of iteration II, you will get two effects of 2-piece sets instead of one effect of the 4-piece set, but only one of them will actually work. For example, if you equip Conditioned Reflex I (x2) and Conditioned Reflex II (x2), you will have “Weakness damage increases by 12%” (x2) instead of the 4-piece bonus, but still only 12% real increase in weakness damage stat.

upgrading iteration of the sigil

You can upgrade sigils to the next iteration by spending Quantum Converters, which can be bought in the store for 20k gold (5 per week) or 200 RC. To do this, just select a sigil and press “Replace”.

Sigil Upgrading

Sigils can also be upgraded, increasing their main and secondary stats. The maximum level of sigils is 25. To level them up, you need XP, which you get by spending other sigils:

  • Rare (blue) – 200 XP
  • Epic (purple) – 400 XP
  • Legendary (golden) – 600 XP

Obviously, it’s better to only spend rare and purple sigils, because legendary ones can be sold to other players.

sigil upgrading

When a sigil increases its level, its main stat also increases. In addition, every 5 levels (at levels 5, 10, 15, 20, 25) a random secondary stat of the sigil will be increased or a new random secondary stat might appear.

4-piece Effect Upgrading

When a sigil reaches level 25, you have a 5% chance to get a unique legendary secondary bonus, which will increase the 4-piece set effect. For example, Swift Reload with the Level +1 increases damage of the first 30% bullets in the magazine by 33.8% instead of the default 30%, and your main weapon regains 11.8% of magazine capacity per second instead of 10% when holstered.

4-pieces set upgrade stat

This is the reason why you need a lot of new sigils: leveling up their 4-piece effects will significantly improve your performance in PVP and PVE.

Best Sigils to Use

When it comes to PVP, you should choose sigils depending on your focus: dealing damage, increasing survivability, or healing teammates. The list of the sigils I recommend to use for each job is below.

PVP

Note that effects of 2-piece sets of some sigils don’t work in Training Matches and Custom Rooms with the “Balanced Stats” enabled.

  • Sharpshooter (Sniper Rifle) – Extreme Sniper, Conditioned Reflex, Swift Reload, Combat Motivation, Frost Impact
  • Wasteland Hunter (Compound Bow) – Conditioned Reflex, Swift Reload, Frost Impact
  • Artillerist (Machine Gun) – Combat Motivation, Swift Reload, Conditioned Reflex
  • Explosives (Grenade Launcher) – Mass Mania, Swift Reload, Conditioned Reflex, Overequipped, Armor Slash
  • Heavy Guardian (Gun Shield) – Swift Reload, Conditioned Reflex, Metabolic Conversion, Armor Slash
  • Medic (Biotic Rifle) – Armor Slash, Spontaneous Mutation, Quantum Recovery

PVE

The best sigils for dealing damage to bosses in Undawn are Conditioned Reflex and Swift Reload. Since we don’t have an opportunity to compare them normally in the Shooting Range, it’s hard to say which is better. Conditioned Reflex might show slightly better results because its 2-piece effect (12% Weakness Damage) works for both main and heavy guns, while Swift Reload sigils are only oriented on boosting your main weapon. Nevertheless, that difference will not be significant.

How to Get Sigils

sigil store

  1. Easy way. Every week you can buy up to 20 legendary sigils from Catherine (after you unlock this NPC) in the Stygian Restricted Area for electronics, which you can find in computers, radio stations, safes and treasure boxes, or simply buy for Stygian Coins from other players.
  2. Main way. Sigils can be received from Sigil Crates, which can be found in various boxes in the Stygian Restricted Area.
  3. Reliable way. You can also simply buy sigils from other players for Gold via the “Trade” section.

I also remind you that you can dismantle any sigils and get Stygian Coins for this: 500 for rare, 1000 for epic, 2000 for legendary ones. So even if you are extremely unlucky and only find rare and epic sigils in the Stygian Restricted Area, you can still dismantle them to obtain coins this way, buy electronics from players via the Black Market, and exchange them for legendary sigils from Catherine.
