ALOFT: Cooking Guide & All Cooking Recipes

Food in Aloft is needed to temporarily increase the character’s stats: damage, max HP, attack speed, momentum, movement, and so on. Most food can only be cooked, but some drinks can be crafted at a Workbench. Any dish is a combination of three ingredients, some of which can be replaced with similar ones (e.g., vegetables, fruits).

How to Cook a Meal

To cook in Aloft, you first need to unlock a Campfire and a Cooking Plate. You will also need Charcoal to start a fire. Here is the list of tools you need to cook a meal:

Place a Campfire, then install a Cooking Plate on it, as shown in the screenshot below. Start a fire and interact with the Cooking Plate.

Cooking Plate

To cook a dish, you must mix 3 ingredients. The cooking process will start immediately. You can simply wait until the meal is ready or speed up the process by playing the mini-game.

Press “F” to increase the intensity of the fire. The closer it is to the red mark on the icon, the faster your dish will be cooked. Your goal is to keep the temperature as close to this mark as possible by pressing “F”, and the food will be prepared much faster.

If you reach the red mark, the meal will burn, and you will get a Burnt dish instead of a normal one.

How Food Buffs Work

Food types eaten are displayed next to the HP bar. You can consume two dishes to increase HP at the same time and one Coffee to get its separate buff that doubles Momentum gain.

You can see the list of effects affecting your character in the “Conditions” tab of the menu (Inventory (I)Conditions). For example, the “Hydrated” effect increases attack speed. Food buffs and effects have a duration. Here is the list of the special effects that you can get from food.

An interesting fact about food in Aloft: Even after the food buff duration ends, your HP will remain increased until you lose it in combat or clean using Digestive Tea.

Also, pay attention that Digestive Tea only removes food effects, but not drink ones. The effects of “Cup of Coffee” and “Wisteria Tea” will not be removed by Digesting effect.
