Once Human: How to Get Starchrom (Stellar Stairway)

In patch 1.3.4 from December 18, 2024, the developers changed the mechanics of obtaining Starchrom in Once Human. Now, instead of earning Starchrom directly, players acquire a new currency – Asterism. The goal of the update is to give players an opportunity to earn Starchrom in the way they prefer, rather than forcing them to play specific game modes.

Video Guide

Not so long ago I made a video guide on how to earn Starchrom in Once Human for my YouTube channel. The guide is gonna be useful, if you don’t understand a new Stellar Stairway system.

How to Get Starchrom (After the Update) - Stellar Stairway | ONCE HUMAN

What is Starchrom

Starchrom is a limited currency needed to unlock blueprints for weapons and armor via the Wish Machine. The Wish Machine itself can be unlocked in Memetics in the “Logistics” tab starting from Week 1.

Once Human, Wish Machine

The Wish Machine has two modes: “Make a Wish” (F) and “Blueprint Shop” (G). If you are limited in Starchrom, it’s better to buy blueprints directly, as playing mini-games may cost more than the desired item blueprint.

Once Human, Season Shop

Starchrom can also be spent in the Season Shop (Esc → Season → Season Goals → Season Shop → Furniture Formula). There, you can buy prints, plants, and furniture formulas.

Will I Lose Starchrom at the End of the Season?

No. When transferring your character to a new server, all the Starchrom you’ve earned will stay with you. Additionally, all the blueprints and furniture formulas you unlocked will also be preserved.

How to Get Starchrom

To earn Starchrom, go to Esc → Stellar Stairway. This is a new Starchrom system where you can earn up to 66,000 Starchrom per month. To do so, you need to accumulate Asterism. After reaching a certain amount of Asterism, you unlock Stellar Stairway nodes. Regular nodes provide 600 Starchrom, while key nodes reward 6,000 or 12,000 Starchrom.

Once Human, Stellar Stairway

The Stellar Stairway is divided into four stages, which unlock consecutively:

  • 1–7 Days of a month: Stage 1
  • 8–14 Days of a month: Stage 2
  • 15–21 Days of a month: Stage 3
  • From the 22nd to the end of the month: Stage 4

Each stage has a limit. Once the limit is reached, you can’t earn more Starchrom until the next stage unlocks. Reset occurs on the 1st day of each month. Unclaimed Starchrom from previous phases can be obtained via the “Past Rewards” section.

However, despite the update, players can still earn Starchrom directly.

Battle Pass

You can earn Starchrom for free by leveling up the Battle Pass (Esc → Battle Pass). This is completely free.

Once Human, Battle Pass

Battle Pass experience is gained through crafting, defeating mobs, completing tasks, gathering, and gardening in Eternaland.

Events

Events

You can also obtain Starchrom directly by participating in various game events (F3). Some events are temporary, while others (such as “Community Rewards” or “Mail Verification”) are constant.

Surveys

Once Human, Surveys

Occasionally, the developers release surveys (accessible via the Esc-menu in the bottom-right corner). These surveys usually take 5–10 minutes and reward you with 300 Starchrom, which you’ll receive via in-game mail.

Redemption Shop

Redemption Shop

If you invite friends to Once Human using an invitational code, you can earn Friendship Points. These points can be spent in the Redemption Shop (Events (F3) → Gather Friends → Redemption Shop). A Starchrom Crate containing 1,000 Starchrom costs 2,000 Friendship Points.

How to Get Asterism

Asterism can be obtained through various in-game actions, such as gathering, combat, crafting, scenario-specific game modes, and Season Goals.

Season Goals

Once Human, Season Goals

Each season consists of several phases, and each phase includes several goals (Esc → Season → Season Goals). By completing these goals, players earn Mitsuko’s Marks. When the number of Marks reaches specific thresholds (e.g., 80 or 120), additional rewards become available. These rewards include Asterism Crates (1 crate = 500 Asterism) and Memetics Points.

Season Shop

During the 6th week of the season, you can purchase 4–8 Asterism Crates (depending on the current scenario) in the Season Shop. Each crate contains 500 Asterism, so you can earn up to 4,000 Asterism by spending up to 390,000 Energy Links.

Once Human, Season Shop, Asterism Crates

The more crates you buy, the higher their cost. However, there is a trick to regain Energy Links: reset all your Memetics before migrating to a new season. This will return a significant portion of the Energy Links you’ve spent (usually about 60,000–80,000).

Territory Purification

Build a Stardust Filter on your territory, insert an Eclipse Cortex, and press “Start Purify.” A few waves of deviants will attack the Stardust Filter, and you must defeat them. The number and quality of Eclipse Cortexes determine the number and level of deviants. Purification typically takes about 5 minutes.

  • Eclipse Cortex Lv.1 = 70 Asterism
  • Eclipse Cortex Lv.2 = 85 Asterism
  • Eclipse Cortex Lv.3 = 100 Asterism
  • Echo Stones = ??? (currently unknown)

Once Human, Territory Purification

You can purify up to 40 Eclipse Cortexes per week. The more you use, the more mobs will appear, and the higher their level will be. To upgrade Eclipse Cortexes, use Synthesis Benches. However, after update 1.3.4, this activity is optional, as there are now many ways to earn Asterism.

Stellar Planula Shop

Stellar Planula Shop, asterism crates

Another 2,000 Asterism is available in the Stellar Planula Shop, located in any settlement. You can buy up to 4 Asterism Crates during the season. Each crate costs 50 Stellar Planula and contains 500 Asterism. Earn Stellar Planula by completing World Tasks and searching for Morphic Crates.
