There are 9 skills in Cubic Odyssey, and the maximum level of each skill is 30. Skills affect the in-game effectiveness of the character and unlock new opportunities. To increase the level of any skill, the player must earn XP for that specific skill by doing the corresponding activity. Skills are available in the Inventory (Tab) → Character section.

Mining |
Increases the efficiency of the Extractor’s mining laser and the chance to obtain more ores from mined cubes. The higher this skill, the better ores you can mine. |

Crafting |
Unlocks new crafting formulas. Increases the odds of crafting gear with preinstalled mods. |
Craft anything using any benches available. The more valuable the stuff you craft, the more XP you will get. |

Melee |
Increases melee critical chance and decreases swing time. |
Use any melee weapon to attack enemies. |
|
|
Ranged |
Increases ranged weapon accuracy and reduces cooldown. Reduces aiming sway. |
Use any ranged weapon to attack enemies. |

Darkness |
Increases darkness resistance (less damage from darkness blocks and mobs) and cleansing speed (a Darkness Purifier tool works faster). |
Clean blocks of red darkness by using a Darkness Purifier or Light Grenades. |

Unlocks better inventory at trades (you can buy and sell better items). Discounts for purchasing increase as the level rises. |
Trade with NPCs or Trading Terminals on Space Stations or in settlements. |

Space Combat |
Increases ship weapons’ cooldown and lowers energy cost for takeoff and cruising. |
Use your ship to defeat enemies in space. |
What Skills Should You Focus On?
The most important skills are Crafting and Trading, while all the other skills are optional. Having a high-level Trading skill allows you to buy top-tier weapons, tools, and equipment from traders.
Almost any item in the game can be found in chests on the planet surface. The higher the level of the planet, the better the chests it contains and the better their loot, correspondingly. Thus, you should focus on leveling up Trading and Crafting as soon as possible. The levels of other skills will gradually increase in a natural way.
