How to Defeat Astranyx Dark Fae in RAID: Shadow Legends: A Detailed Guide

Astranyx Dark Fae

Newcomers to RAID are often afraid of the Astranyx Dark Fae. But in fact, she is one of the easiest Doom Tower bosses (if you understand her mechanics, of course). So let’s see how to beat her at different stages of the game.

Examine the descriptions of the skills

This is the most important step. When you face any difficult boss in the game, you should figure out at once how his skills work. As a rule, there is an obvious vulnerability in his system. Your goal is to use it. This will ensure your victory.

Also check the “Best Teams” tab. Lots of useful information can be obtained from there.

How to build a team for Astranyx Dark Fae

When a fight with the Dark Fae begins, she summons a mirror copy of your team, including all of your champions’ artifacts, their masteries, and so on. Then, she increases the Dark Energy Counter with each attack with her A4 (Dark Abduction) skill. When the counter reaches 5 points, she summons a full copy of your team again.

Your aim is to defeat a copy of your team before they can make a move, and then defeat the Astranyx herself before the Dark Energy Counter reaches 5 points. In a fight against a mirror-team, you always have one crucial advantage: the ability to make the first move. So everything works the same as it does in the arenas: filling up the turn meter to prevent the opposing team from getting a turn, breaking enemy defenses, and dealing AOE damage.

Example of a Team Using Only Free Champions

To demonstrate how easy it is to beat the Dark Fae, I have built a team of only free champions that every player is guaranteed to have. Let’s see how it works.

  1. High Khatun gets the first turn and fills up the turn meter of the team.
    Astranyx Dark Fae
  2. Broadmaw also fills up team’s Turn Meter and places the [Increase C. Rate] buff.

  3. Athel uses her A2 to land a powerful AOE hit.

  4. Other champions finish off the rest of the enemies and begin to beat Astranyx.

  5. In this simple team, we have 60% [Decrease DEF] (Bloodfeather) and 25% [Weaken] (Athel) debuffs, so the boss goes down after a while.

As you can see, this looks pretty easy. But to do so, it’s necessary to properly equip the champions. Let’s do that.

How to Choose the Right Champions and Equip Them Properly

Since we have the right to make the first move, we only have three options: defeat the mirror team on the first turn, control the mirror team to prevent them from killing your champions, or pass the turn to more powerful heroes.

The third way is the simplest. Let’s say we have High Khatun with a speed of 269 points. As we already figured out in the article Tips for Beginners in RAID, her true speed in a battle will be 104 (basic) * 1.19 (aura) + 159 (artifacts) = 283.

High Khatun

Since Khatun fills up the turn meter of a team by 15%, the next champion must have a minimum speed of 283 (Khatun’s speed) / 1.15 (15% turn meter) = 246 points (including Khatun’s aura) to prevent the enemy team from interrupting our combo.

My Broadmaw has 236 speed. Taking into account Khatun’s aura, his true battle speed equals 104 (basic) * 1.19 (aura) + 132 (the rest sources) = 256 points. This is more than 246 points, which is obvious, so he gets the next move after Khatun.

Broadmaw

Broadmaw also fills up the turn meter of the team by 15%, so the next champions require a minimum true speed equal to his true speed – 15% (~222 points), and so on. But since we also have a 30% [Increase SPD] buff, this number becomes a little lower, so Athel gets the next turn.

Athel

This is the logic of continuous combos. But defeating the mirror team isn’t enough on the high Doom Tower floors. The Dark Fae herself becomes significantly stronger, so you must have certain abilities in your team in order to not lose.

  • [Decrease DEF] & [Weaken]. These debuffs are essential in almost any boss fight. Decreasing defense should be your first priority to increase damage. [Weaken] is optional, but highly recommended.
    [Decrease DEF]
  • [Decrease SPD]. As I said above, it’s very important to defeat Astranyx before the Dark Energy Counter reaches 5 points and she summons a copy of your team again. Therefore, on the high Doom Tower floors, we need to decrease her speed. This will give us more time to kill her.
    [Decrease SPD]
  • Skills for decreasing enemy Turn Meter. The reason is the same as the [Decrease SPD] debuff: make the boss slower.
  • Heal & Revive skills. Your team is unlikely to survive without them.
    Heal
  • [Decrease ATK]. With this debuff, the boss will deal significantly less damage, so your team’s survivability will increase.
    [Decrease ATK]
  • Skills to clear your team from debuffs. The Dark Fae places on champions debuffs like [Leech] and [True Fear], so make sure to remove them in time.
  • Any positive buffs for your team. Priority by 50% [Increase ATK] and 30% [Increase SPD].
    [Increase ATK]

Example of a Team for Late Game

The following team works on the same principle, but a little differently. Here, Vlad the Nightborn gets the first turn and reduces the Turn Meter of the enemy team by 50%.

Astranyx Dark Fae

Then Mithrala places the [Increase ATK] buff on the allies, and Trunda kills them all. Afterwards, Ninja quickly kills the Dark Fae.

All of this is happening in full automatic mode, and the run time is about 3 minutes.

It isn’t impressive, but quite satisfactorily.

Example of a Team Using Control Effects

In the following example, I used the free champion, Visix the Unbowed. She gets a turn after Arbiter and provokes the entire mirror team.

Astranyx Dark Fae

After that, Ninja, Trunda, and Rugnor kill the rest of the enemies. Actually, Ninja can freeze them all, but he is so powerful that they almost die after his A3 skill.

Astranyx Dark Fae

Visix slows Astranyx down by applying the [Decrease SPD] debuff and reducing her turn meter with the A1, so the boss dies quickly.

Here’s how to beat Astranyx using control effects.

How to Create a Team Auto Mode Preset

To release the combo, the skills of your champions must not be on cooldown. That’s why we can simply ban the use of key skills in the second round.

Then you should go into the “Round 3” tab and configure each skill that must be used first, according to your idea.

Tips for Defeating Astranyx

  • Do NOT include overly resilient champions in a team. Your damage dealers must be able to take down the mirror team.
  • Avoid using Stone Skin, Guardian, Stalwart, Swift Parry, and Frenzy sets. Since, in essence, you are fighting against your own team, each such set will significantly complicate the task.
  • Make sure some of your champions can clear debuffs from the others. It’s especially important on the high floors of the Doom Tower.
  • Slow Astranyx with the [Decrease SPD] debuff and Turn Meter reduction. This will give you more time before she summons a mirror copy of your team again.
